Living in New York isn't always easy, but lately I've found myself noticing lots of little things I appreciate about it.

Top left: The twinkling lights of the Ferris wheel at the San Gennaro festival, held annually along several streets spanning Little Italy & SoHo in honor of the patron saint of Naples. I pass part of the festival on my walk home from work each evening, and it's always a major act of willpower resisting funnel cakes and fried Oreos.
Top right: My guy and I had some delicious late afternoon snacks at inoteca last Sunday and got to watch the sky change as day shifted to evening. Those pinks and purply blues are stunning!
Bottom left: Ladder 20 in SoHo lost seven brave firefighters on 9/11. Being here on the anniversary of 9/11 is always a moving experience, and this year was no different. Hearing stories of sacrifice, dedication, and acts of kindness from those who were in New York City on that day and in the weeks after is a reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
Bottom right: A beautiful view of the Tribute in Light from North Williamsburg.
